Mindful Journey Workshop
July 30, 2015, Shanghai, China-
Living Room by Octave, the first holistic urban wellbeing center in
Shanghai’s former French Concession, has opened its doors with the
launch of a series of integrated classes and workshops designed to help
people actualize their possibilities. The Living Room’s dedicated team
of local and international practitioners deliver daily programs
committed to empowering individuals, families, organizations and
communities to help them be at their best in physical health, mind-body
alignment, thriving relationships and life purpose.
The programs at the Living Room by Octave are based upon Octave’s Whole Person Approach: achieving optimal health, finding peace and alignment of mind and body, nurturing thriving relationships and defining life purpose. This approach incorporates a variety of classes across the four areas such as yoga, body balance, interval training for health; meditation for inner peace; counseling and family therapy for nurturing relationships and creativity classes and coaching to facilitate life purpose.
Practitioners delivering these programs include licensed medical doctors, naturopaths, accomplished movement masters, fitness experts and life coaches from China as well as places outside of China such as Canada, Brazil and Ireland. Octave programs are offered in their purpose-designed and purpose-built spaces that inspire and gather communities such as the Living Room.
“Octave is founded on the principles of facilitating an evolution in the way we live, the way we learn and the way we relate,” says Steven Yeh, Managing Director and Head of Corporate Development, Octave. “The programs that we are launching at our first holistic concept Living Room by Octave are grounded in an integrated approach of ‘Whole Person.’ These programs have been carefully crafted by our expert practitioners and are organized, integrated and customized to help our clients successfully navigate, overcome and grow across their life journeys. As Octave grows along with the community across China, we take this philosophy at the heart of everything we do.”
Octave’s practitioners work together to guide individuals, families, organizations and communities to self-actualization through tailored workshops available seven days a week across Living Room by Octave.
With backgrounds from around the world, the practitioner team has interweaved Eastern wisdom and Western science into the programming. Programs have undergone testing with a community engaged with life development. Since the completion of the program testing, this group has maintained ties and supported each other on their respective life journeys.
The Mindful Journey Program
To launch programs and services this summer, Octave’s practitioners have created The Mindful Journey Program. This experiential adventure gives a taste of what is on offer across the Living Room – jumpstarting people on a path to optimal health and happiness. The team of Octave practitioners guides guests through a carefully sequenced half-day of workshops, classes and activities touching on a variety of areas - fitness, mindfulness, relaxation, nutrition, self-empowerment and more.
The Program is aimed at pinpointing areas in life to improve and begin the journey to reach everyone’s possibilities. Each participant will undertake a full Tanita Assessment using a scientific scale to measure body composition, including fat, muscle, BMI, water, skeleton density, internal organ fat, body age, and general health condition. It gives a view of the body like you've never had before.
Beyond the Tanita assessment, the Program introduces a combination of three Octave signature workshops that are at the center of its philosophy – a Mindful Journey Workshop and Lifestyle Yoga Workshop followed by a Mindful Eating Workshop
The Mindful Journey Workshop andLifestyle Yoga Workshop are hosted by renowned lifestyle coach Fionn Wright and Mind-Body Expert Alvaro Esteban who discuss the concept of mindfulness, guide a visualization meditation to help design guests’ lives and pinpoint areas where they can improve. Guests also learn how to utilize yoga as a tool for cultivating awareness and reaching balance in daily life by exploring how to bring mindfulness into daily life.
Integrated into any wellness program is the Thought for Food concept at Living Room by Octave, and the Mindful Journey Program embraces this with the Mindful Eating Workshop - exploring the fundamental relationship with food as it nurtures body and mind. During this session, participants enjoy a truly mindful meal specially designed by the in-house nutritionist. From the ingredients to the portion size to the service and presentation, the session will engage a dialogue on food as a mindful eating experience.
